I purchased a SONY VAIO in the US 2 years ago model SVT13116FXS its a series T which is only available in the US. MY hard drive crashed and is now in RAW state and Im in another country right now. I bought a new HD but the recovery disks from SONY are not available to download and can only be ordered in the US with a US credit card and sent to a US address. The SONY store here only has recovery disks in Spanish and no SERIES T. If I get a friend to order the DVD for me and send it down by FEDEX its $109 for the courrier and $55 for the disks. Is there anyone out there that has the same laptop and has purchased the disks that would be willing to share or any one know of a mirror site that would have the disks available for download?

Your best bet is to go to a third party recovery disk website. I do know that http://www.recovery-disks.com carries that particular model number as we have had to get it for a customer before. The direct link to it is:

We have had to order discs for customers overseas before and it definitely isn't quite as expensive as that. Just tell them you were referred by Toms Guide and they should be able to help you out with a discount for overseas shipment. Just remember, if you're shipping overseas it takes awhile to get there.

If for some reason you cannot find the disc using the search function:

allows you to place the order using a custom order form. We've had to order multiple discs from them and the other disc websites out there and they usually always come very quickly. Good luck with your machine.
