I've been browsing amazon and found used Razer Blades that are priced around 1200 and 1500 USD. I have been folowing the Alienware 13 since september. I could buy either one but I am looking for something that stands the test of time (about 3-4 years) and that I can do school work and game a bit.

I am not very proficient on making judgements just by looking at specs, so I wonder if anyone can help me out with it.

Raze Blade 14 (2013) 1400~ USD

Intel Core i7-4702HQ Quad Core
CPU: 2.2GHz (Base) / 3.2GHz (Turbo)
8GB DDR3
256 GB SSD (mSATA)
Intel HD4600 (DX11)
NVIDIA GTX 765M (2GB GDDR5 VRAM,
Optimus Technology)
1600x900

Alienware 13 1149 USD

Intel® Core™ i5 4210U
13 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 860M with 2GB GDDR5
8GB DDR3L at 1600MHz (2 x 4G)
500GB Hybrid (8GB Cache) SATA 6Gb/s

I really don't care about storage capacity (word docs and civilization 5 don't take that much space)

Which would be a better buy?

For that kind of lifespan you can not expect much from a mobile machine.

Anyway to the matter at hand.

The biggest difference :

The Razer has a MUCH better CPU. Quad core + 4 threads instead of the Alienware's 2 cores + 2threads.

The Alienware's Graphics cards is a little better and more efficient, however it has a larger and better monitor, which would probably result in lower FPS than on the Razer. So image quality is best on Alienware, but FPS should be a teensy bit better on the Razer.

The Razer has a much better storage system, it will boot faster and just feel faster in general.

Now to put this in context, FORGET Razer and Alienware overpriced namebrand wastage of money.

Here is a laptop that has the benefits of BOTH for a better or similar price :

Ahhh yep, I got a Y50 in my hands last week and it's just gorgeous (I also have a Lenovo Z40 atm), however the major drawback is the size :/ I'm looking for a 14-13 incher with a decent GPU to run Civ 5 and Civ BE and also be able to do school work on the go (I work full time and go to college from 7 thru 10pm) that's why I only included this 2. I gotta say that I am infatuated with the Y40(R9 275) atm but I am waiting to see how Lenovo refreshes it.
