I want to buy a gaming laptop up to $1000 in this thanksgiving sale.

I am looking for a laptop that can play current and some future games at high or ultra. I am a college student, so sometimes I want to take my laptop with me.

I have searched online for laptops and I see that all good gaming laptops have the weight of around 9 pounds. 9 pounds is OK with me but the battery life is my main concern. I will be playing my games plugged in always, but when I am not gaming and doing general documents editing stuff I want battery life around 4 hours.

Which laptop do you think is the best available right now and probably have less price at the time of thanksgiving sale.

Thank You

Yeah the MSI laptops are pretty good specs wise, only downside, like Razer and those kind of laptops, they do get hot, and since metal chassis, don't use it on your lap with exposed skin. Unless you don't have legs, which then thats fine, it'll be fine.

But ya if you have to compromise a bit to make sure you can fit in the price, the Lenovo Y50's are pretty good. With the GTX 860M you should be able to play pretty much almost every game out there. (Maybe not AssGreedU but Ubisoft is kinda greedy.) Anyways, theres also a model with 4GB VRAM if you can push for it... push for it.

Hate to burst your bubble but its next to near impossible to get something like that. If you want a laptop that can play current and future games at ultra, you're looking to spend close to $1500. If you want something with more than 4 hours on battery life you have to sacrifice CPU which in term affects overall game play.

If you we to pick 2 out of the 3, like say Price/Battery Life (meaning slight sacrifice to gaming performance i.e. no Ultra) then the one I would recommend would be

If you really want to future-proof your laptop and ensure it would be good for years to come, then you're gonna have to pay a bit more, something along the lines of

(Its supposed to be a newegg.com link but its coming up weird, anyways its the ASUS ROG G751 Series G751JT-CH71 in case link doesnt work)

Thanks for the reply. I was also looking at ASUS G751. Which laptop do you think is best for playing games at medium to high? And will the 8 GB RAM be sufficient for gaming?

I have the ASUS ROG G74S, which is like a few years older than the ASUS G751. I can run a taxing game such as FFXIV:ARR at med-high settings and still get 60 FPS. (Only FPS dips when there is like more than 100 people in the area since MMO this happens only in towns and rarely in fields/dungeons.) While playing games I never seem to use more than 6 GB, even with things like Music in the background and 15+ Tabs open on chrome (which really uses a lot of memory).

Since the Card in my model is the GTX 560M which is 3.5 years old right now, and comparing it to the GTX 970M which not only is barely 2 months old AND is of a higher hierarchy (the 7 means its of higher performance vs models that have a 6) means that this laptop should be able to play almost any and every game on high settings this year and possibly early next year and still be able to play most games on med-high in the years after.

Except for Ubisoft, who can't PC port if their lives depended on it.

I dont think I can increase my budget. So, I think Lenovo Y50 is a good choice for me. So, if I am anyways going to compromise on gaming performance, what about MSI laptops? Are they any good?
