i have been scouring the World Wide Web for anything and everything on how to retrieve photos off of a damaged SD card. I was in the middle of a shoot yesterday and bam....my stress level went through the roof.
I've downloaded tones of different recover programs...such as Zar, which I know everyone recommends. Then I tried to format to see if that would help me use recuva....nope! My computer wouldn't even let me format the sd card.
I've tried Photorec but every time I try to run the program it says I need this or that installed but it won't ever let me open it to begin with.
iCare....no work.
Wonder share....no work
Cardrecovery... "Shakes head"

And so many others.

I don't want to spends hundreds of dollars to get the pictures.....but I almost want to say....go ahead.

If anyone has any type of advice....I'm all eyes/ears.

Maybe these guys can help, Typically when they can't be fixes with Software you have a damaged controller.
SD cards are one of the most counterfeit things you can find. It is so wide spread that even Wal Mart sells them sometimes.

I would also advise a Onilne back program like Dropbox, set them to sync and it really saves some headaches.

I am curious as to what windows shows: Does the drive show up in windows with a drive letter? Is it mountable? My suggestion would be to try 'SpinRite'. It's 'corporate' strength hard drive recovery/maintenance software. Makes a bootable CD, and has 4 levels of recovery. I've tried Easy recovery professional, and a slew of unerase programs, but this will 'fix' the drive as best as can be fixed, better than chkdsk ever could. Where you are using an SSD Drive, Probably use level '2', anymore and you will needlessly kill sectors on the SSD Drive, from too many reads/writes. One final note, this software will take TIME to run, it's very thorough. Good Luck

It will mount with usb and in sd slot on my laptop....but when i try to open in 'E' it demands formatting.
I'll research SpinRite and give it a shot.
Thanks

Pretty much everything he was talking about is what's going on with my sd card. It's showing a lower gb than what it's supposed to have and it's not communicating with my computer of camera. Thanks so much. I'm going to get in contact with the people immediately!
