This is a 2010 Mitsubishi LCD TV and has been showing signs of this problem for almost two years.. There are two areas about 3 inches wide on both sides that extend from top to bottom that are slightly distorted with a blueish tint and ( for a better description ) and oily looking sheen on images that extend into the areas. I am unable to see the model number as it is mounted on the wall. The images that extend into the affected areas are totally clear except for the slight distortion. The tv has started in the past month to project lines completely covering the screen when turned on and requires that the tv be turned off and then restarted to have a picture. It does not do this action each time and there is no pattern to this action. I thank you in advance as you are my last hope of knowing what might be wrong before I fall on the mercy of the repair shop.

with your error sounds like the panel of the tv is going. the tv info will sometimes be in the menu of the tv. under info.
i would google your tv see if there any recall or class action. a few older tv did have issue and there we recalls and call action on some tv. due to bad parts getting into the tvs. also look online for the part number for the lcd screen and see it cost. may cost you about the same as a new tv today. also check to see where you got the tv se if you got an extended warranty at the time you got the tv.

Thank you so much! I will wait till my son returns as I am in a wheelchair and info was not on menu. I can only hope that this was a recall. TV was pricey when bought so I am not going back with another of this brand. Who makes the best now?

on tv there only few vendors that now make the pannels for the tv. low cost tv viseio tv that sold at walkmart have been doing good. samsung tv have been getting good reviews. most tv now all have one year on parts and labor. you have to use the internet now to see if the model your looking at has a high recall or defects.
