Looking for a laptop mainly for internet browsing and notetaking for uni work. I recently purchased a notebook hp 255 g3 which was £220 but found that it was extremely slow, it could only open a few tabs and lagged when streaming video on sites like youtube and twitch. The battery life was also very short 2-3 hours which wouldn't be enough to last for a whole day of lectures etc.

With this in mind with such a low budget would it be better to opt for something like a chromebook? I've seen a friend use it and they seem very fast, no lag when browsing sites like yt and twitch and generally seem to run fast (boot up time etc). The main issue is the lack of microsoft office, however for note taking google docs should be fine (so long as theres ways to organise them into folders etc).

Should I opt for a laptop or chromebook for my needs and if either any recommendations for the best in that price range?

For less than $400 USD there are some halfway decent laptops you can get. The Chromebook is good for that. It will do everything you need it to for sure. Not sure if it does files or not though. This is a good one D550CA-RS31 It's an ASUS, has a Core i3, 6 GB RAM. Good specs for what you want to do. Dell also makes budget models, but they have Pentiums or Celeron processors in that price range, which aren't very good. Generally a laptop with at least a Core i3 and 4 GB RAM would work good for you.
