I think my AMD Radeon 7970m just went out and I would like to replace it myself, but I can't find a place that sells laptop graphics card. Does anyone know where I can purchase one? Replacing the entire laptop would be the price of a used car so that isn't an option, and I need a laptop because I travel throughout the week from school to home. Which also means I need as soon as possible to do my homework assignments (which one is playing a game and building missions for the game).

Laptop GPUs are not sold on the consumer market, they are only sold directly to the laptop manufacturers. As a consumer, the only way to get a laptop GPU on its own is to buy a used one on Ebay. That's assuming you have a GPU that is removable, it could very well be soldered to the mainboard, in which case you're out of luck.
If your laptop is still under warranty, you may be better served sending it back to the manufacturer for repairs. If you do want to attempt a repair by yourself, then you need to look up the documentation on your laptop to determine whether the GPU is soldered to the board or not. If your GPU is on an MXM card, then you can take it out and you may be able to replace it, if you can find a replacement.
