Hello,

I'm a college student in need of a laptop for studies and light gaming such as Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2. The Y40 is really stretching my budget range as I was hoping to spend less than 600. With the m275 and i7 I am curious if other think it's worth it. Also, any other considerations would be great!

Thank you

This site seems to get less and less active by the day... I'll plug in here though and say I just purchased the Y40 over the Acer and here's why...

  • 1. The Lenovo build quality is absolutely solid.
    2. Although the panel is bad on the Y40, it's still 1080p.
    3. The i7 processor is a bit better.
    4. The R9 275M is significanty better than the 840M.
    5. Better keyboard
The decision is up to you but I am as well a student and I thought the extra $100 is alright because I plan on using this 4+ years. Yeah, the Acer has a 1TB drive but it's slow regardless. In both of these laptops I'd add in a SSD. I'd rather have a bit higher resolution, GPU, CPU, and build quality.

Ended up going with the Y40 myself as I found a coupon and bought it for $650. Couldn't pass that up! Thank you for your answer.
