LCD Controller Board Help

I want to make my old laptop screen a 3rd monitor. I watched a youtube video of someone installing one. They unplugged the cord in pic1 http/postimg.org/image/f2lhdnlmr/ ,but my display has two cords. The other cord wasn't in the video? I'm concerned about buying the lcd controller board and it not working. Can anyone help me clarify what this cord is for? pic2(other cord) http/postimg.org/image/ew7z30pnr/

The other cord is used to power the LED bulb or may even connect the wireless antenna that is going around the screen
