Hello, I have an acer aspire v3-571G. The laptop has 4 ram slots and is currently on a 4+2 ram combo. I was wondering if I add another 4gb ram will it run fine on triple channel and would I need to activate it on BIOS or something ? I'm asking this since 10gb of ram isn't exactly common and I don't want to waste money on a stick witch could be useless.

Solution
10gb is certainly reasonable.
Your laptop will only run in dual channel mode, even with 3 or 4 sticks.
Intel will run in dual channel mode where it can, and the odd capacity will run in single channel mode.
You want to match the capacity of each channel as closely as you can.

The extra ram will be detected and used without any extra on your part.

Do check the compatibility of your upgrade with the ram vendor's upgrade app.

Thanks for the quick answers and I know for sure it has 4 slots since I opened it up myself. I'll just match the 4gb stick I guess and go for the 10gb.
