I got them a week ago and they were working great and I wanted to tryout the 7.1 surround sound (you had to have the driver installed).

I installed the driver and not even a second after I couldn't open the sound properties menu in the control panel, play YouTube videos (they would buffer completely but wouldn't play no matter what), VLC (a media player) wouldn't play the music ether, everything sound related would just stop.

I have no clue what to do and was hoping someone with more knowledge could help.

Where are you getting the driver from, a disc that came with them? website? etc? I would try reinstalling...

Where are you getting the driver from, a disc that came with them? website? etc? I would try reinstalling drivers... go into device manager, look under the sound device category, check the properties for the device... you might want to just disable it and re-enable it from there and if that doesn't help just uninstall & reinstall the driver
