Hello folks!
Basically I have been looking for a laptop on and off for a good while now and have found very little that I am confident I will be pleased with.

The main thing I am looking for is portability and affordability; while my budget is flexible, ideally i'd like to avoid spending over £800, which I know limits my options.

On the portability front, I would prefer a thinner laptop and an optical drive is not needed since I already own an external.

In terms of gaming I do not require anything amazing as I own a fairly competent desktop and PS4, so the laptop will just be for when I am on the go really, and games would probably be a long the lines of Skyrim, Chivalry, Sims 3/ 4, Tropico, Football Manager, Company of Heroes, Hearthstone, you get the idea, basically Skyrim would likely be the most demanding.

Two laptop brands that have caught my eye and I have taken serious consideration towards were the HP Envy Range or the Lenovo Y/Z range. As well as these I've heard the occasional opinions of the HP ProBook being quite decent, but any help on the matter would be appreciated, I am open to any ideas as long as the chassis is not too obnoxious and large (e.g. Alienware), I much more for the sleeker looking laptops, akin to the design of a MacBook Pro.

In terms of the Lenovo are there any models that you would say would be better suited to my needs? I don't need to run every game at max settings but running them at medium to high would be good, I'd also need it for my course which is computer science/ computing related.

After a quick look the Z series laptops they seem quite good for my needs; the Z50-70 has a model in at £570, which has an i7 at 2.00GHz and a GeForce GT 840M with 4GB, although there is also the Z710 which is an i5 at 2.60GHz and a large screen, but the graphics has only 2GB on the 840M and the overall build is a little thicker. Both 1TB HDD and Optical Drives, and both come with Windows 8.1

i dont know the price of y50 in euros but it is around 1000$(780euros?) for the basic i7 version

i would suggest the lenovo y 50 ( sorry no link) , Currently using it and love it
here are some benchmarks
Shadow fo mordor -40 at ultra (except textures)
witcher 2 - 40 without uber and 20 with (all at max)
AC-BF - 20- 25 FPS at ultra and 8xMSAA
you can also turn of the backlit keyboard and it has a nice outer look too

personally i have the touch version and i love it
and its really slim and light(compared to other laptops) and it has no optical drive (it has a inbox external)

I did love the look and specs of the Y50 but unfortunately it is priced at £999 so it is above my price range
