Hi,

around 2-3 years ago I purchased my Acer Aspire 7750G in Germany, including my charger.

I then moved to Australia.

1 year ago I noticed that my battery lights were flashing while the charger and battery were plugged in. Before the flashing started, I could here a beep sound.

The lights that flash are:
- the power button light (blue)
- the blue light on the front, very left
- the orange battery light (second from the left)

When I disconnect the charger and plug it back in, I can again hear a beep sound and the flashing disappears for a while to then start again shortly after. The interval of this happening used to be 30 minutes. Now it happens every 5 minutes and is really annoying. When these lights are flashing, the battery in windows indicates that it is not being charged.

So is the problem 1) the battery, 2) the charger, 3) my motherboard?

1) The battery
If I power off my laptop and charge my battery completely, I still get 80min of battery life out of it without having the charger connected. If the battery is charged and the charger is disconnected from my laptop, everything seems to be fine. No flashing appears.

2) The charger
The led is green on my charger. Not sure if that means it is ok.

The label says :
AC ADAPTER CA/CC
Model PA 1121 -04
Input 100 - 240 Volt 2.0A(2,0A) 50-60HZ
Output 19 Volt = 6.32A(6.32A)
0Z04336402 AC REV: A02

3) The motherboard, I tried the following:
- Shutdown my laptop
- Disconnect battery and charger
- push power button for 20 seconds
- plug in charger and battery
- start up again

Unfortunately, this did not fix the problem.

Now what can I do?
1) Buy a new charger? if so, which charger should I buy in Australia. I can't see any wattage on my current charger.
2) Buy a new battery?

I would very much appreciate your input.

Thank you.

Regards,

Tobi

PS. I used the forum search and many people seem to have similar issues, however, I could not find a solution yet. If there is any thread out there that already answers this, it would be great if you could let me know.

Thank you Phillip.

I opened my laptop and removed the power jack as advised in the thread you recommended.

It was burnt and I will replace it. The problem is, the socket on the motherboard was burnt a bit too.
Not sure if this should be replaced and how easy it is to do that. Any advise? Please find below the screenshots.

Below some pictures.

I would really appreciate your feedback.

Thank you.

Acer knows that their Aspire Laptops have battery failures and they still sell them without fixing the problem. The only resolution is to spend your own money shipping the Laptop back to them and wait two weeks to get it back. They know there are problems and the elected to keep shipping faulty product because it's cheaper than fixing it. Acer believes it's cheaper because most people don't understand PC's. DO NOT BUY ACER LAPTOPS!!!
