Hi, I am currently having a major issue with my TV, which is a Sony Bravia 40W2000 TV. It started yesterday, where initially the tv wouldnt turn on and the standby light kept repeating a pattern of blinking 9 times then pausing, which kept on being repeated. We unplugged it to see if that would help, and now when we try to turn it on, the light turns green and the screen appears but only for a very short amount of time, after which it just goes black (the screen turns off) and then a clicking noise happens twice and then it sometimes will repeat this, and the screen never actually turns on.

I dont know if this is a known issue with many TVs, but can someone please help as I don't want to have to fork out money for a new TV anytime soon. Thank you so much for any help or replies!!

LCDs have an inverter-transformer, used to drive the the cathode back lights. Probably yours is dead. Check if the TV is still working by aiming a strong light at the panel. If you can see an image then that's probably it. You can get of a used inverter at ebay. Also do you get sound from the TV?

Hi thanks for the reply. Just tried that but the backlight seems to be working, as it lights up. The whole tv set seems to turn off and then back on and lasts for about 2 seconds and then essentially restarts. When the screen turns off there is a noticable clicking noise that happens twice and then happens again when the screen turns off he next time etc.
