Hi! I'm going to get a new computer for xmas and my mother sent me a message with two LG ultrabooks in a price she can pay. She asked me to ask around if they are worth it, though, cos we don't have money to spend everytime a computer completely breaks (and it's happened before here, unfortunately).

So, as I said, both are LG. First question is, is LG a good brand? I rmb I've read on a post on IGN a year ag or something about laptops good fr gaming and there was an LG on the list, but I can't remember any details.

Second, I plan to use this computer mainly for gaming. I don't want to spend on a desktop cos I travel and I like to play on the go. Here goes the specs for both:

1st (link for a brazilian website)
intel Core i5
1,80-2,70GHz cache
4GB RAM
500GB HD
Inte HD Graphics 4000

2nd (Link)
Intel Core i3
1,90GHz, 3M cache
4GB RAM
500GB HD
Intel HD Graphics 4000

And last but not least, they don't have to be perfect for gaming. As long as they're ok, it's fine by me. For now these are the only two options. Which should I go for?

Ultrabooks aren't the best choice for gaming. They don't have a dedicated graphics card, so at best, you'll be able to play new titles on low settings (sometimes not at all, depending on the game). For casual gaming like Minecraft or LoL, it would be passable but you're going to struggle on anything remotely graphic intensive.

Of the two though, I'd probably go with the first one for the i5 processor.

Oh :I Well, mom later found a Dell on the mall. 8GB RAM, 1TB HD and dedicated video card (I'm betting she asked a clerk to show her a laptop/ultrabook which I could play games with). Said it was also an ultrabook, but sometimes she uses the wrong words. I'm going for that one either way (she stated it and since she's the one paying...). My computer is not great (2GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7520G) and it runs many games smoothly (even Dark Souls 2, which is not supposed to run at all according to settings on Steam, is flawless on minimum settings), so this Dell should do it. As for high settings, I never really cared for that. As long as it runs and I can play, that's fine. Thx anyway ^^
