I own a Gateway MT6821 and I would love to upgrade it with SSD; icore 3; 16GB RAM - if possible. Before going out to buy a custom build, can you tell me if the existing chassis (MT6821) could support all the new upgrades? Please advise. Thank you. For specs about the MT6821 go to: (http://www.cnet.com/products/gateway-mt6821-core-2-duo-1-6ghz-2gb-ram-160gb-hdd-vista-home-premium/specs/)

You can put an SSD drive in the laptop, but you cant put a core i3 into the laptop as the sockets are completely different (most laptops makers solder the cpu directly to the board now days anyways).
As far as 16gb ram, it might support 8gb but that is using the older DDR2 memory and not the current ddr3.
