The lenovo y50 is good, don't know how much it costs in your area but I have heard good things about it. The only thing is that is is 15.6 inches. You could try some of these sites and see if any of them are good:

np7338 is 13,3'' has an 860m paired with an i7 4710mq and 8GB RAM (base model which can be customized), its mass is ~2,2kg

@Dasulman: Still a bit too pricey.

@Velo1300: It isn't available in Australia according to Lenovo. They don't seem to like us...

@Bolin: Can't seem to find t in Australia and I have terrible luck ordering things online so I don't want to risk getting it from the USA.

i showed you the Clevo WS230SS - which is also named the NP7338 for sager. That's the only thing in the size range that you specified. save up or go to 15.6 for a decent gaming experience.

Unless I find a ridiculously good special I think I'm not going to be able to get what I'm after. Will that laptops with the 800m series of GPUs go down in price when the 900m series comes out? If so it might be worth waiting?

gtx 900m series is already out, if they haven't gone down it's because they won't, any soon. 900m series are only 970m and 980m, there's no need for 860m and lower GPUs to go down, not atleast for 5 months.

There aren't many good performing 13,3'', your best bet is the sager np7338 which you can't buy

Okay that's annoying but thanks. Are there any cheaper 14 or 15 inch laptops you'd recommend? Being light is the main concern here.

australia dont have updated clevo suppliers which is a shame. theyre quite behind the curve as far as i can see

Yes, here we get everything later and with a rather large markup.... For example the Lenovo Y series isn't available here yet... As well as this there is markups of up to $700.
