Asus Laptop Not booting from any device - but can see them in Bios and POST

I bought an old Asus A8JM laptop off Craigslist. I needed the legacy for some older equipment that I have, like a PCMCIA firewire card.

Got the unit home and tried to get it started. It started up, but wouldn't output to the external monitor. (seller said video card was dead). Did my best to use ALT-F8 to send it to the external monitor to no avail. I had to open the case and physically disconnect the LCD from the motherboard. After that it would then boot past bios and POST.

The motherboard sees all USB drives, hard drives and DVD-ROMs that are in or plugged into the computer. They all show up in Bios. But for some reason it will not boot from ANY device.

I have even tried setting up PXE boot using Serva, and I can get that boot menu to load, but the machine hangs on loading the first file.

I have taken the hard drive out, installed Windows on that drive using another machine, booted the installation successfully, but still will not load when the drive is put back in the laptop. It tries to boot from the hard drive, get's a blinking cursor and reboots.

It will see every device, DVD bootable, USB bootable or hard drive, see it, for a second seem like it will boot from one of those drives and then restarts. Off PXE network boot it will just hang on the loading screen while trying to load the first PXE file.

If I hit shift-10 while the network is initializing, I can actually get to the bios flash utility, and I can browse the directories of all the drives that are plugged in. Frustrating that I can see the drives, browse the drives, obviously have then bootable, but NOT boot from them. The next and only thing that I will do is test the memory slots and see if there is a bad stick or something.

There are no errors codes that are coming from the speakers either.

Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated.
