Hi guys,

First post here, so go easy on me. :)
Like the title says, I am looking for a gaming laptop for around $1000.
I know this is a "You get what you pay for" type category, but I figure I would ask on here before I make a purchase.
So far I am eye balling the Alienware 14, MSI GE60, and I hear good things about Sager.
Also, Im open to looking at maybe finding one on ebay.

I was in just this place and decided in the end to go with a SFF desktop I'm building myself.

Sager makes very good cost effective laptops and after all my research that was what I would have bought (after choosing to expand my budget up to NP8278-S). The NP7358 is at your price-point and the 860M is a decent GPU.

Although significantly above your budget, one of the new MSI all-in-one gaming machines may be worthy of consideration.

I was just about recommend Sager 7358 and its 13,3'' and 17,3'' variants :p. The 860m with i7 4710mq is a pretty powerful system, maybe enough to even defy desktops with the same price tag.

The Lenovo Y50 is also a very good choice. The Sager is likely to be bought from a dealer that will allow you to customize it to your taste, so there is more flexibility.

With MSI you need to watch for heat and cheapness. some configurations need better heat solutions and others are built very much to a price. Read all the reviews that you can.

With Alienware you are paying for name, image, and design. That's why Sager and Lenovo tend to be more cost effective.
