Hello everyone, hope you can help, losing my cool over this. Just got a new machine and switched the Razer Megalodon headphones over to it. While having worked just fine back with the old computer, my new one just won't recognize the thing no matter what I do.

In my Device Manager its listed as "Unknown USB Device", clicking on properties reveals the following:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
A request for the USB device descriptor failed."

Attempts to download the driver from Razer have failed, as the firmware updater (as well as Razer Synapse) don't recognize the device as being plugged in. I tried

I tried restarting etc., all the time, while leaving the computer off and unplugged for several minutes.

Then, having found some tips to that advice on various forums, I tried holding the central button on the Megalodon's control box, and plugging it in then. That didn't work at first, and I tried different other things, but then I tried holding down the button again, and for once - the system DID recognize the Megalodon. HOWEVER, when I restarted the computer, I was back to square one - and unable to reproduce the success. I don't think even if I did, that it would have been a solution, but it was weird that I actually had the system recognize it ("Razer Megalodon") and was able to switch to it and use it.

Here's my system, newly set up, running on Windows 8.1.

Processor: INTEL Core i5-4690K (3.50GHz,1MB,6MB,88 W,1150)
Cooler: CPU Hladnjak Raijintek Themis Black, 120mm, PWM
MoBo: GIGABYTE Main Board Desktop Z97 (S1150,DDR3,VGA/HDMI/DVI,USB3.0/USB2.0,RAID,LAN,SATAIII) ATX Retail
RAM: Kingston DDR3 HyperX Fury, 1866MHz, 8GB Black
Memory: SEAGATE HDD DESKTOP SSHD 3.5" / 2TB / 64m/ SATA/ 7200rpm
Graphics card: MSI R9 290 GAMING 4GB
Case: Raijintek Agos Midi Tower - Black
PSU: Seasonic SS-550G, 550W

P.S. Sometimes upon restart, in Device Manager, the Megalaodon will end up under 'Other devices' as an 'Unknown device', as opposed to down in the 'USB controllers' as an 'Unknown USB device' (as described previously).

Please help, the thing isn't cheap at all :(, I'd greatly appreciate assistance.

One week later... Just great, thanks a lot Tom's Hardware. This is my third unanswered thread. Anyone coming up on this, suggest you not waste time in this dump.
