1. What is your budget? Maximum £674 (I have a student discount on lenovo & dell laptops, which is 10% so if after the 10% it equals £674 then that is fine)

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 13'' to 15''

3. What screen resolution do you want? 1080p preferred

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Bit of both, I like portability, but it has to be able to do things my laptop can

5. How much battery life do you need? Decent amount, the more the better

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? I do like to play games, 1080p resolution would be preferred. I play FPS' atm, mostly CSGO.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) Programming (Computer Science student), web browsing, watching movies, listening to movies

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? Not too bothered, having an SSD would be a plus, if not I will get one later when I have the money.

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? I hope for it to last for a while, the current laptop I have has lasted me 8 years. I am happy for it to stay for less seeing as hopefully I will have a job by the time this laptop goes so I can afford another one with more ease.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? Not bothered, happy to not have one.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. Not too bothered really, as long as the reliability and quality is good

13. What country do you live in? UK (England)

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed. If it looks beautiful that is a bonus, must be reliable as well. Being quiet and if it does not get hot then that is also a plus!

The problem with laptops is that you have to buy them from retailers, and not part by part like in desktops, also we don't know what laptops are available in your area. So I suggest looking in flyers...etc. for at least at i5, pentiums and celerons are no good as you do editing, which requires more cores...well, you technically can, you just have to close programs that you aren't using. Most laptops have pretty much all the other specs you mentioned (except for 1080p, it's even rarer in 13"-15", esp. if you're not getting a GPU). Good brands would be Asus, Lenovo, Acer, in that order of goodness.

Do you have any suggestions on what the good Asus, Lenovo and Acer laptops are? Also are Dell any good?

Well, as I said, I don't know what laptops are available for you (I live halfway across the world), so you just gotta look for specs, Dell and HP are known to have short lifespans, and because Dell specializes in gaming laptops (Alienware), you don't have many options for normal laptops.
