Suggestions to budget good laptops?

Okay , so now the issue is I'm looking for a budget good laptop which can last for as long as 5 years and above?

My very 1st tablet? Was heavily subsidized by school so yeah, it kinda lasted me from 2008 to today? It is still working, just that the fan is worrying me a bit as certain times when I decide to browse websites, it kinda lags and hangs so yeah , I'm currently on the lookout for new laptop/tablet.

Basically, tablet comes with a stylus? But that is no longer important. I'm looking for a functionable laptop which allows me to connect my external hard disk to the laptop and allow me to watch my anime and dramas...

Programmed I frequently used? Photoshop CS3, (seldom but still used), iTunes (seldom but still if I want to manage my songs and videos) , video software? GOM player and Flv player? Microsoft words.

Basically I just need the laptop to be good in downloading and streaming videos (YouTube and all other anime or Chinese streaming websites) .

Games? Not that impt.

So essentially most of the stuffs packaged in iPad, but iPad does not connect to external hard disk, so yeah.

I am not bringing my laptop outside of my house so just think of it as a desktop at house (just that laptop is much more convenient for me to study)

I'm staying in Singapore but the basic apple laptop is 1600? Idk.
I'm looking for a cheaper laptop that can lasts with the functions I stated.
I only know Fujitsu, but their brands are expensive?
Any brands that you guys can recommend?
Budget would be best below 1200 sing dollar and I can wait for IT fairs , I will be buying next year earliest. So I just need brands recommendation so that I can check around?

Battery life ain't a concern. Since I'm using it at home primarily.
