If you are running Windows 7 and are willing to delete all your files and programs, you can do a reinstallation with an image from Digital River, the licensed Microsoft online distributor. The images can be downloaded free but it must be the same version as your laptop uses (see the license sticker for the version).

Otherwise, as already suggested you need to contact HP.

And whenever you have a computer without recovery or install disks it is like not backing up data -- you will have a problem, likely sooner than you expect.

HP don't give you recovery disks, you have to create them from the recovery partition, using there own program.

If you live without your existing files, then do a factory restore from the recovery partition.

HP laptop with Win8

Turn on, at HP logo, Press F11, Select Keyboard Layout, Click TroubleShoot, Click Recovery Manager, Click Windows 8
