Ok, I've been pouring over forums for days now via Microsoft, Toshiba, and a few others and I still cannot seem to address my problem.

Here's the issue:
I have had my audio set up as an entertainment center-like-thing. I have my laptop as a source for music and movies. I'm running a standard 3.5mm from the headphone port of the laptop to my external speaker system. This set up has been working just fine for over a year, until the other night when windows did an update while I was sleeping.

My laptop speakers work fine, when I plug headphones in, they work fine, but when I plug my speaker system in, the volume is super low. I have maxed out the volume settings on the laptop, Realtek Audio is also maxed out. I have nothing muted, no special configurations, just the standard set up of using a speaker for better sound quality. I have to set my external speaker on max to hear only what it would normally sound at a lower setting (norm set to 20, max is 50)

I have tried updating the Realtek Audio driver, uninstalled/reinstalled the system updates, system restore to a period when everything was working properly, even received a remote access from a Microsoft technician to help resolve the issue...all to no success.

I'm running Windows 7 - 64 Bit at 48000Hz (default) and quite frankly, I'm at my wits end. I've tried just about every software trick I know without replacing the soundcard, even contacted an IT friend of mine and he was just as confused as to why this is an issue as I am.

If anyone has had this issue and knows of a solution, I would greatly appreciate any/every bit of help I can get.
