Hi!

I'm looking for a fairly capable laptop for as little money as possible. My grandma is in need of a new computer as the old one has way to dated hardware.

The purpose of this laptop is to be able to stream video and browsing in general. A dvd reader would be great aswell!

OS, Windows, doesn't matter what version. 7/8

Budget is around 400$ or below. Keep in mind that I live in Sweden so prices will be higher here.

Thanks for advice :).

Any recent pc will work great for video streaming if you want try having one with at less 4Gb of Ram and 120Gb of HDD or more will work great. Also for durability ovoid Acer... best one's are Asus and Toshiba brands... And make sure it haves a great airflow... :)

Asus and Lenovo are good brands, you can find many laptops in the $400 price range.

Try to find one on special with a Core i3 over an AMD A4/A6/A8. The AMD cpus they use in laptops are not that good and even for your grandma's general use it would be noticablly faster. If in the USA, tigerdirect.com often has good specials.

It would be easier for us to help you if post some models that you already looked that fit in your budget, then we can help you choose.

But for video streaming (Youtube, netflix, etc.) and web browsing, almost any modern laptop can do the job, even the lower end ones.
