My first laptop was a HP Pavilion Dv 5000. Bought it when I was 15 for $1,000 some dollars back in 06' or something from best buy. It was an office Laptop. Very ugly computer, but it ran for over 6 years. Done lots of things on it. Loved it. Then it died...kind of...back lit had issues and it kept freezing.

My second computer is the HP Envy X2 tablet hybrid. Got it for $320.
Regret buying it.

Now I'm looking for my third.
I'm thinking about getting
HP envy touchsmart 17
Samsung series 7.

I just need a nice looking solid laptop that will last a long time like my first computer did.
Only going to web search and youtube and lots of typing.
I'd buy a Mac book pro, but cat find a cheap one...
My budget is $500

Thank you in advance

You could look for the macbook air as it has a good keyboard and is much cheaper than the pro. You can check if you get a student discount in your school and get it cheaper. Or look for second hand models as they should be dropping in price as the new one is going to be released soon. Or you could go with a lenovo model as they are very good with their keyboard but screen quality is ok.

Thanks for replying, but is there anything better than an Asus computer? Had trouble with them in the past...
I'm leaning towards to the Samsung series 7...I could get it for $350..
But I still need sugestions

Estimable
i have Samsung laptop . i ve been using it for 2 years . Everything works . The display is good . it had a minor problem that every laptop has - the high temperatures . i downclocked my GT 520MX and limit the max CPU state to 85% plugged in and 50% while gaming with different power plans . Now it is OK , i play games whenever i want . But the overheating issue i faced is a general laptop issue . My sister has HP and it also overheats . They use a cooling pad .

Thanks for replying.

Not going to use it for gaming.
Just going to use it casually, like internet, youtube, watching movies, and typing.

Don't play games much any more. Don't have time between job and school...
