I have a toshiba laptop that won't power up. The amber charge light and green AC light are operational. The amber light will come on when laptop is plugged in and charging. The power button seems to work - when I push the Power Button, the green AC light will come on, as normal, and when I hold the Power Button down for a few seconds it will turn the green AC light off. Fan seems to power up when I leave the laptop 'on' for a while.

The screen is completely off. I have tried holding the power down with plug and battery disconnected (drain m/b) to no effect. I have tried to boot w/out battery as well.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, if you can, try an external monitor.

Thanks, I tried that with no success -used a flat screen RCA tv with VGA cables, but it wouldn't detect any signal.

It is a Sattelite, about 4 years old, AMD Athlon dual core, 4gb ram, Windows 7, 15.6' screen, but I don't know beyond that. The model # has rubbed off the tag on the bottom of the laptop,

The laptop is not starting, something stops the booting process, try to go in the BIOS.
