I have a QSC RMX850 watt amp.
I want to connect my laptop to the amp through a 1/4 inch cable using a 3.5mm (The headphone jack size, Please correct me on that one if it was wrong.) adapter.
I also have a mixer and when I turn on the amp, the mixer shows some output signal. I don't know if that's voltage being sent out from the input or if its just normal interference. I don't need my laptop fried.
Also, on the back (http://www.aplauzaudio.pl/qsc/images/hi_res/RMX2450_bk.jpg)
it has these 3 screws. Can I use a headphone wire and use that instead?
Would that be a good idea?

Solution
Headphone jacks take 3 segment stereo - Common, LH and RH

Your amp seems to take Ground (shield), LH+, RH+, LH-, RH-

So you'd have to split common into 2 - LH- and RH-

You can either screw down the bare wires, use a 3 pin LH (Channel 1) and RH (Ch 2) or a 3.5mm 3 segment for each.
