Toshiba laptop problem

Toshiba laptops, if of 3 or more years old suffered from a problem with a super capacitor called a Tokin chip.
If the laptop freezes while in use or powers down or restarts once windows has loaded the chip needs to be replaced.
Nec Tokin oe 128 or a 907.

The super capacitor located on the underside of the laptop mobo in the center of the cpu socket need to be replaced, or four 2.5v tantalum low esr capacitors can be used,the value of each Tantalum must be 330 uf.
The problem was renowned in the satellite range of laptops.
the capacitor fails with age and cannot hold the correct Uf value required.
The reading should be 1200 uf if the capacitor is good.

look up your model of your Toshiba to see if it contained a Tokin chip, it most likely does as what you are seeing is the common symptoms of a Tokin beginning to fail.

If you do a Google you will see for yourself, on how to replace the Tokin chip with four 2.5v Tantalum smd capacitors at 330uf rating.
If your not good with a soldering iron, then take it to a good repair shop.
It is the only sure fire way to fix the problem ok.
Should cost you about £8 for the new caps. you can buy them off ebay. or RS electronics Radio shack ect.
