I just acquired a laptop from a a friend. It's in brand new condition , hardly ever been used. It's a few years old and I just wanted to know how well it will perform as far as games. According to him, it was over $2000 when he bought it, which I am skeptical of.

Specifications:
CPU:
Intel Core i7 820QM @ 1.73ghz

RAM:
4 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 660mhz

Graphics:
Screen resolution is 1600x900
512mb NVIDIA Geforce 310M

I know more RAM would be good but I think I can squeeze by with 4GB

Solution
It will run very poorly on modern games, perhaps not even be able to run at all. The newest Intel HD graphics would probably outperform the 310m GPU, and the CPU is a very low frequency.

Playing games 5 years and back will be okay.

If he is offering it for $100 - $200 (max), not a bad deal....you can find similar machines on clearance for $300-$400 - and they have a warranty.

It sucks spending the big bucks on tech and watching your investment go up in smoke.....
