Hey I have been searching for some laptops in retail stores at my area and I've come across two that seem pretty good for my budget. One of them is a Dell Inspirion 15 3000 series with i5-4210u, hd graphics 4400, no touchscreen, 8gb memory, 1tb hard drive and I was able to get this for $500 on sale while it is $700 now in Canada. When i got this computer I was able to use it for about 10 mins before it shut off. It had a battery defect. The store gave us another new one. While using the computer I realized that is was very plastic and flimsy and I really disliked the flat keyboard and touchpad. I also came across an HP laptop, HP 15-r033ca, with i3-4030u, hd graphics 4400, 6gb ram ,500gb hard drive. I know that the dell is better as in specs but I'm am going to be using this computer for just movies, surfing the web, and school word. No gaming. Also, asthetics are something that is influencial to me for choosing a laptop and I found the HP looked better, had a better keyboard, and looked stronger overall. I wouldn't mind the downgrade from i5 to i3 or 8gb to 6gb. So I was wondering which laptop is more reliable and if i should just ignore how the dell looks and just get it because of its specs that are a great bang for you're buck for a price in Canada. Also note that both of them are $500 and that the dell has a 14 day return policy from best buy while the HP has a 90 day from costco. Thanks

It varies from model to model and both HP and dell are very similar, if anything, I would say dell's customer support beats HP's
