Hi,

I have a Samsung laptop with an Intel Core i5 3230m with Intel HD 4000 GPU, 8 gigs of RAM, and 1 TB HDD 5400 RPM and I noticed that it has been slowing down lately and when I used PerformanceTest to benchmark the CPU I got an abnormally low score of 1706 which is even lower than that of an old Core 2 Duo and around Celeron level. Definitely not normal score. A few months ago when I ran the benchmark I could exceed 4000 (around the Phenom II) so I am not sure what is happening.

Here are the scores:

The CPU utilization has been normal under task manager and nothing seems to be causing the CPU to use up resources.

Can anyone help out? EDIT: I tried CPUz and even when loading webpages the frequency is stuck at 1197 mhz which is the resting frequency of the processor but not the normal frequency. How can I turn it back up?

Edit: Thanks! Was able to fix the problem by hitting fn+f11 (fan button) to change the power settings. CPU now runs at normal frequencies and not overheating (40-60 C).

CPU might be throttling due to overheating try running CoreTemp or any temp measuring software while running the tests
My core i7 laptop is having this issue when reaching high temps like 85-90 C CPU drop to 1GHz
