That's correct, it's happened on different circuits, even different buildings.

I am experiencing the same problem. My Toshiba is model 46L5200U1. I am going to check with Best Buy tomorrow. I will post if I get an answer.
I called Toshiba and got no help. I replaced inverter. Still had the problem.
Next i did a factory reset. So far, this has worked. TV has been on for several hours with no problems "knock on wood".

I would be interested in what they say. I am glad someone else has seen the same issue at least. It doesn't seem like a software thing, I'm thinking more likely a control board or some other hardware that's failing. I'd just like to find out if it's repairable. The sets are probably a few years old, and I'm not the original owner, so there's no warranty, but if I can get them repaired, I will. I'm just not sure how easy LED sets are to repair, most consumer electronics are pretty much disposable these days. Thanks for your input.

Was that the led driver board you replaced, on the left under the cover looking at the back of the set? I had thought about trying to replace that, was just waiting til I had the funds.

My repair man has replaced the LED driver board twice and has determined it is the LED strip taking the driver out and is not able to isolate the bad LED and can not find a replacement for the LED strip for the tv. Toshiba gave me a number to a parts house they say have it (wrong number) however I found the correct number online and they say they do not have that part. Need to find an LED replacement strip for the TVs. I think toshiba should be taken to court over this my tv was manufactured in October 2012 and died September of 2014. And no one has the part. TV wasn't even 2 years old when it died I bout it in November 2012 it was only 1 month from the time it was built when I bought it. This is wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If someone can find the replacement I would appreciate where to find the part so I can get it fixed and so would my repair man.

The Main Processor board is commanding the LCD back light to turn off via the DIM control line. With a voltmeter check the voltage on the DIM line pin 15 on the power supply board connector of the cable going to the main control board. The pins are labeled. The DIM line drops from 3.4 vdc to zero when the screen blanks. The BLON pin 16 stays at 3.4 vdc. Turn the set off and jumper a wire between pins 15 DIM, and 16 BLON, shorting them together. Now turn the set on and the back light will stay on. This connection inhibits the main control board from blanking the screen upon loss of signal.

Thus the main control board is bad. Flashing the firmware does not help.

On the LED Driver board with the set on, screen off, pin 1 on the connector to the screen is 10.20 vdc. When screen is lit the voltage is 101 vdc or more.

So my tv is the same model bought it 3 years ago and it just started doing the exact same thing you all are describing.
Did we figure out how to fix it ? I need a new board? Please help me

Thanks for this insight...you seem to be the most knowledgable person I have come across so far on these TV's.

My tv (46l5200u1) still seems to be either commanding the backlight to turn off or dropping voltage from the LED driver board....by disconnecting the yellow (DIM) wire from the main board to the power supply board......the DIM line going from the power supply to the LED driver board jumps back up to a constant 3.4v.....still the main line (black line 1) going from the LED driver board to the screen itself flashes up to 100+ vdc then drops back to 10vdc...do you think this is a command issue or is my driver board bad?

Hi I have a toshiba 50l4300u led tv....is it the same pins? i tried looking and couldnt find them...could you direct me a service manual? my tv did this 2 months after he warranty expired. THIS IS A CRIME. 1000 BUCKS FOR THE THING. Any help
would be greatly appreciated. i get sound and the pic comes on for a sec and then blank. i have an image but no backlight

I had same problem it turns out to be the led's it is a very common problem with led TVs and your be very hard push to find a place that does them I found a place in Romani that done my led strip for my tv but that took days of looking online
