I am looking for a laptop, tablet, or pad that is on the inexpensive side, but I am not asking much of it.

All I want to do is connect my Logitech D920 HD web cam to it and record video. I would do the editing on the desktop later. I need to be mobile and able to view the recording in real time.

I don't care about sound quality, video playback, I don’t even care if it can access the internet.

It can be, Windows, Mac, Linux, even Android if it will work. I just want the web cam to work properly, it to hold 3 or 4 hours of video, and the screen work well enough to see what is being recorded (so I know what is in the shot and that it is in focus).

I just do not have the funds for a $500 video camera at the moment and need to keep going.

Something I can grab from eBay pretty cheap would be perfect.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks.

Is it not the HD Pro Webcam C920 ?

Either way, I would go with a cheap and light Win7 laptop.

Yes HD Pro sorry, seems I am limited to Win7 or Win8.

For storage I would not need more than 100GB would I?

And what about mem or processor power, it could be pretty low since I am only recording?

You will do fine with a system like a Lenovo X201, you can get a long life battery for it, it's cheap, fast enough and small.

I suggest a tripod and also an short USB extension cable so you have flexibility in placing the laptop. Not too long or the webcam may not work with it. USB lengths past 10-12 feet can run into issues powering devices.
