I just desoldered and soldered back a dc jack on an acer one netbook. The thing is though two of the standing legs got broken off in the desoldering process. The laptop is powering on fine now however my question is is it ok to leave it like this. Without two of the standing legs. It has two other standing legs that are soldered on including the positive pin. My question is could it be dangerous or anything to leave it like this even though it appears to be working fine.

Thanks in advance

Hi, the laptop will work fine, the jack has four pins for the ground and one for the positive. Now, you only have two pins for the ground, depending how gentle you are when you insert the plug in the jack, it could last a long time, maybe not, and you will need a new jack.
