Hello I am currently a college student and I'm having a hard time choosing between these two laptops:

I want to do some light gaming, possibly some coding and video editing. The type of gaming I want to do involves games from 2013 and below, also if possible some games from 2014 at low setting.

Also I made another thread about laptops to choose from, but my stubborn parents would not let me buy from newegg or any online websites so I am forced to buy at bestbuy :(

Too bad, because the exact same model is available at Staples for $100 less when you factor in their $50 rebate and $150 off online coupon (find it on the main page of the laptops section): http://www.staples.com/HP-Pavilion-15-p066us-156-Laptop-750GB-Hard-Drive-6GB-Memory/product_1065428

Seriously though, I would avoid HP if you want to play games. HP's often suffer from cooling problems, I've had nothing but problems from the HP laptops in my family and from my friends when it comes to overheating, especially as they age (and they make the heatsink/fan impossible to get to without taking the whole laptop apart, so good luck cleaning the fins out! Though to be fair that's most laptops these days.)

I don't know where you're located so...

I don't know where you're located so I can't look for models in stock near you, but check sites like walmart, staples, costco/sam's club (if you have the membership), and tiger direct for models in stock at nearby stores. In my opinion, I would try to avoid Acer, HP, and Gateway. Toshiba is OK if you find a good deal. Asus and Lenovo would be good bets at this price.

Also remember at this price range you're mostly limited to integrated graphics (probably even more so than most shopping in this price, since online models are out of the question), so be realistic about the games you want to play. Older stuff will work fine, but demanding games probably won't run, and you can pretty much forget about future games that require anything decent in the graphics department.
