Hey Tom's. Originally, I had an entire post written out, but my tablet sucks ass, so unfortunately I'm gonna keep this short. I have about 5-6 questions concerning the G750JM gaming notebook which involves peripherals compatible with this machine.

1. I'm going to mainly be playing 3 games: Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. No FPS. Just mainly them three. So, which mouse is best for these games? Reviews suggest the Logitech G502 Proteus Core over anything else. It's about $60, or something like that. Is it as good as it seems? Design, software, comfort, and programmability as long as an amazing sensor and adjustable DPI make it a steal.

2. Onboard audio is far from great. So I've had my eyes set on Platronic Gamecon 780 headset. The headset is comfortable, says many people, and has great audio. Speaking of audio, it supports 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound. It has a variety of buttons that can mute mic, adjust volume, activate surround sound, et cetera. From what many say, it's the best sound they've ever heard. Not only that, it's only $60! Has anybody ever had experience with this headset. I'm on the very verge of buying it.

3. For those who have it, does anybody know how the 860M fares at 1440p? The three games I'll be playing are far from demanding (Skyrim runs at 60 frames with maxed out settings on 1080p). I don't think Oblivion supports any higher than 720p, Skyrim does, and I think Morrowind can be tweaked in the settings to go to 1440p.

4. This one relates to question 3. I'm going to buy a 1440p monitor to game on. The exact monitor is the ASUS PB278Q. This is supposed to be THE monitor for gaming, or so I've heard. It can rotate 178°, has a 5ms response time, is QWHD (2K-1440p), is literally designed to be for gaming, and has a 144Hz response time, so any game that is running at 30 frames will have the appearance of 60 frames. So even if the 860M struggles a bit, the high refresh rate will come handy. Does anybody else not agree. If so, what's the best 1440p monitor?

5. Along with the 1440p monitor, I'm going to buy 2 1080p monitors. They, too, will be ASUS and both are 120Hz as well as 3D ready. They've gotten great reviews, and match the ROG theme as well. The exact model is VG248QE. Price is about $280. Have any of you guys had any experience with this monitor. If so, how is it?

6. What cooling pad, under $30, would be best? Even though the G750JM never went past 75c on both CPU/GPU, cooling is by far the biggest priority.

If I left any important things out, please say so. These questions are aimed for those who are good with peripherals, but I put this in the Notebook section anyways because I thought the machine running these things mattered more than the actual accessories.

Thank you for your time guys. I appreciate it!

I cant answer all your questions, but do you know if the sound card in your laptop supports surround? Then you can get a stereo headset and get surround, no difference to a surround headset. And yes, the Gamecom 780 is a awesome headset, there is also the Logitech g430 which is comparable to it if you didnt know.

Hope this helps!

1) none of those are FPS , so any generic mouse will probably be alright. the whole "gaming mouse" market is really for FPS players. I do not have experience with that particular mouse. my current mouse is an older Logitec MX518 Gaming Mouse, it has all the features of a modern gaming mouse so i see no cause to upgrade. I think if you can find a mouse with a similar feature set you'll be fine.

2) no experience with those headsets. not a headset guy really, i prefer high end speakers

3) 860m can't game in modern games in 1440p. not well anyway. mobile gpus are not strong enough for that resolution. the strongest mobile gpus can barely keep up with a desktop r9-270x. which is borderline for ultra settings in 1080p. 1440p is pretty much out of the question. you'll be playing at reduced graphic settings or reduced resolution.

4) i have no personal experience with that monitor, however Asus is one of the more respected monitor manufacturers, not because of quality but because they don't lie on the packaging when talking about performance (seriously rare for computer monitors, i think BenQ is the only other company with the reputation out there for not lying on their packaging, because you know what you're getting with an Asus monitor, people tend to recommend them)

5) i have a 1080p Asus monitor, an Asus VH226, it's pretty, sharp colors, looks fantastic. nothing but good things to say about the asus monitors I've seen. (the only thing bad i can think of about them, is some are a little too glossy)

6) Gear Head CFS8800BLK is pretty well respected.

1) You don't play fps so there are lots of good mice which you can choose from, I personally don't find anything that necessary for me aside from the 2 extra thumb buttons since I'm so used to them that I can't live without them. That said, if you want to connect your machine to some great, lets say, 3k or 4k monitor, higher dpi does works wonder while you're doing some work. The proteus core is a great mouse, I have one after breaking my Rat7, no complain froom me, for most people though, G402 should be fine too.

2)About headset though, I am a bit of an audiophile myself so I would probably be biased toward audiophile grade headphones. To be honest, anything that has a "gaming" tag slammed on it has horrible sound based on my experience, those with great sound such as Sennheiser G4me Zero and Audio Technica ATH-AG1 are really expensive and most probably out of your budget, there is still a great option though, the HyperX Cloud headset is one of the greatest for the price range and sounds really good, comparable to headphones such as Audio Technica M50x, it does require slightly more power to unleash its full potential though considering the 60 ohm driver it has which I think the G750JM do have with its dedicated headphone amplifier. However if you could afford it (both the price and zero isolation) go for some open back headphones, the soundstage is significantly bigger which makes you think you actually sits in those environments.

3)1440p is out of question for most games nowadays with a 860m, unless you could live with lower settings.

4)From what I read it is a good monitor and is worth getting, although I personally don't find anything past 90Hz useful.

5) No experience with the monitor, can't comment.

6)About cooling pad, the one suggested above might be a bit small for your rig, being 15 inch wide, slightly smaller than your rig. I would recommend a Cooler Master U3 Plus that would fit perfectly with your G750, it is a bit over your budget at around 40 dollar, however, I'll say the fact that this doesn't use up a USB port, which I would like to reserve for a keyboard, a mouse and hard drives/flash drives worth the 10 dollar.
