Hey guys, I have a laptop that i bought like 2 years ago and lately my system has been lagging quite alot. It doesnt respond as smooth as how it used to. Like when I open another tab takes longer than usual and it doesnt open smooth. My system freezes frequently, it makes more noise and gets hotter. Games I used to play at a playable framerate, have dropped drastically to the point its not playable anymore. For some reason sometimes my laptop uses alot of ram while not doing any heavy tasks.

My specs: amd a-8 4500 4 cpus @1.9ghz, 4gb RAM, Radeon HD 7640G, 500GB hdd (not much storage space left)

I defragged my drives, scanned it on virusses.

I was wondering what the cause of this could be. Could it be the lack of space or RAM? Would it help if I'd get an SSD since i have an extra slot for another drive. Or would it help if I upgrade my ram?

I regularly clean the dust in my laptop. Laptop gets hot when playing games.

Most likely its an age thing. As for the heat, get a laptop cooler if its unbearable. Here are a few tips that can boost your laptop:

1. Make sure that none of the ventilation holes are blocked while gaming. This will ensure that none of the internals overheat
2. Unplug the battery if overheating is happening and stay on the ac power. This will stop wear and tear of your battery
3. Use quick charge and discharge techniques for you battery when you are not gaming
4. Use a lightweight anti virus software, this will reduce the amount of ram used
5. Try not to do too much multi - tasking.
6. Get more ram if you need to.
7. Get rid of any software you don't need
8. Disable any unnecessary start up programs
9. Get rid of any unwanted background processes
10. Install an ssd if the read/write speeds of your hard drive has dropped. This can drop as time goes by if your hard drive is a low end

I can't think of any other ones but try these and let me know what happens
