Hello!

For the last year or so I have had a strange issue with my font in both the Java Control Panel (or any Java screen for that matter) and any Java-based program, such as Minecraft. The font is completely garbled, and appears to be facing the wrong direction and overlaps, making it totally illegible. Furthermore, the text that I enter into the fields of a program ends up looking the same way and doesn't process correctly. This has kept me from even being able to tweak the settings in the Java Control Panel or log into Minecraft for that matter, as it rejects my password and account name since they come out as a jumbled up mess.

I have uninstalled all versions of Java numerous times, deleted the fntcache.dat file in System 32 and am now at a complete loss. I've read about some cases where Java has issues with aliasing and the font itself, but I know too little about that to even know where to begin. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm attaching a picture so you can see the madness firsthand. Thanks again!

What version of Windows? 32 or 64bit? Having 32bit Java installed on a 64bit OS can cause this.
Also, try enabling / disabling ClearType in Windows and see if that helps.

I just tried turning off Cleartype, and it worked! I have no idea how this even came to messed up, but turning that off fixed everything! Thank you so much! Do you have a paypal or anyway for me to buy you a beer? Thanks again, you have no idea how much stress this Java thing has caused me!
