Hey guys,
I just started grad school and have been using my 2008 dell xps m1330 (SMH that its this old; ive been using a custom desktop but was not able to bring it to grad school). My lappy is at the end of the road; I need a new lappy; ive been looking for weeks now!!

1. What is your budget?
Under 750, ideally under 550 would be amazing. but willing to deal with that.
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
13 to 15 in. i actually prefer a 13 but either one.
3. What screen resolution do you want?
does not matter to me.
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
not as important. i'll bring to school every day but school is a 5 min bike ride.
5. How much battery life do you need?
i have outlets at every table; not that important. 3+ hours i guess would be minimum.
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Yes; dota 2, LoL, sc2. medium would be awesome!
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
processing speed is important in addition to graphics card; have to watch a lot of videos, lectures, am on the internet all the time. microsoft office as well. no one likes a lagging or slow processor.
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
120gb. i have externals and clouds (google drive / dropbox).
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
n/a
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
3+ years
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
dvd rom fine with me; don't need a writer.
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
asus, acer, msi would be cool. dell as well. ive had a bad experience with hp but i think it was just the computer. open to toshiba/samsung, etc.
13. What country do you live in?
USA
14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
its hard going from a custom built desktop to a laptop. i just want a clean, fast running computer that can play LoL and Dota2, which aren't graphics intense at all!!

Thanks!!
Jason

I would go with dell as they are the best for budget end laptops and they have discounts for students. You can have a look at them and let me know what laptop you are thinking of getting and I can tell you id it is good. I can't tell you which one to get as I am not familiar with dell and they have lots of laptops
