Old Latitude D620: hard drive or motherboard?

Most of the time, I get a "no boot device detected". But if I let it sit long enough (we're talking days here) it will boot and run fine. No clicking and CHKDSK says the drive is fine. I don't mind replacing the drive but is it more likely the board?

With the battery out and the power off, removed the HDD and reinsert it a few dozen times. This sometimes cleans the contact points which may be causing your problem.
