Hi, I have an MSI G60 Ghost Pro and it comes with a geforce gtx 870m and intel graphics.

About 30 seconds after my computer turns on, the nvidia graphics turn on and the power button goes orange. I have no programs running, and I cleared task manager. I can't make it turn off.

Has anyone had the same experience or have any idea how to fix it? thanks.

You do happen to be running windows 8/8.1?

If so, then that's likely the issue. I know mine breaks the power setting's on CPU/GPU all the time, CPU down to 1.20ghz when plugged in even at high use even if put in freezer and GPU sometimes doesn't kick in though newer drivers seems to have mostly fixed that.

You could try to go into the advanced settings to see if anything seems off in how the power plans are configured and it did help me some to change some things, but really it seems like win 8 in notebooks has a mind of it's own on the power issue.

Sorry if I was not clear, The computer has two gpu's so when you are running a game the nvidia gpu turns on and the light turns orange, when you have not game running it is blue. And yes I am running windows 8.1

One nvidia gpu, one intel gpu. It is usually blue unless I am in a game when the nvidia turns on. I have the stock power adapter and this happens no matter if it is plugged in or not.

I just got this laptop a few days ago myself and started having the same problem. The way I took care of it was going into nvidias control panel and setting everything to intergrated and only using select programs(games) to run using the gtx870m. But I could be wrong and our problems could be different but that's how I took care of that

Resolved it by
1) right-click on desktop and open the NVIDIA control Panel
2) Go to Manage 3D settings
3) Choose "Auto-select" as Preferred graphics processor
4) Close and now you should have the blue power button.
It is intelligent enough to switch to Nvidia card (orange power button) when running games.
You can custom set graphics card and settings for each application/game at the Program Settings in the same panel.
