ASUS Q500A will only start by switching order of RAM memory modules

Laptop will only start if I switch the slots the memory modules are in. After that, it works fine until I shut it down and try to restart it. Then I have to:
Remove battery
Unplug power cord
Switch the position of the two memory modules
Plug power cord in
Press power button.

It then works flawlessly. I then shut it down and try to restart it, and then I am back to square one. Is there a way to resolve this?

jarotech, when I try to start it without switching out the memory it still does the same thing. Push power button, button lights up, fan comes on, HD light comes on for 1 to 2 seconds and then goes out nothing else happens.

I believe jarotech's asking you to do all of the steps that you listed in your first post *except* switching the RAM (waiting an appropriate amount of time that it normally takes to do that), and see what happens, or was that what you just tried?
