I have an Philips tv, on wich I have a Raspberry Pi connected for XBMC via HDMI. I also have a game console connected via HDMI.

Now i've bought a soundbar and I'm trying to set it up, but i guess i'm doing something wrong.

The soundbar has 2 HDMI sockets. One sais HDMI TV, and the other is just HDMI. It also has an optical input slot.

I've connected my game console and Raspberry with my TV, and i was originally asumed that by connecting a soundbar to my TV everything would stil function the same, but with the soundbar instead of the speakers from the TV.

How can I properly set this all up, and have sound from my soundbar.

I've tried connecting the Raspberry Pi to the soundbar and then to the TV, with this option I have sound with my Raspberry, but not when watching TV.

Solution
If your TV has an optical audio output then connect that to the soundbar and you should be done.
If your TV and soundbar have ARC (audio return channel) then you can connect the soundbar to the HDMI input which is for this and you would be able to get sound from the TV even if it doesn't have optical out
If neither then you can connect the Pi and game console to the soundbar via an HDMI switcher but that will not get you sound from the TV internal tuner or network apps.

Thanks, but I've read that you can't get HD audio with an optical connection. However, I've ordered an optical cable, and that should arrive here tomorrow, so I hope that i can at least finally use the soundbar.
