Lenovo Y500 Problem

I just tried to turn on my laptop after letting a friend borrow it for a month or so. I believe it was working fine for her because she was using it everyday without a problem. I see the Lenovo logo when I turn it on, so I know the display is fine. But after that, it's a blank screen, with the flickering line on the top left corner of the screen (just like the one you would see in cmd). I would think it's a dead harddrive, but I'm not sure because the computer still detects the hard drive.

Specs:

i7-3630qm
nvidia 750m
seagate 1000gb SSHD
8gb RAM

I've already tried turning it on and off several times.
My boot priorities are correct to my knowledge.
I removed the battery and a/c power and held the power button for 15 seconds; did not fix

one thing to note is that I installed windows 7 on this computer; it originally had windows 8.
The problem could've been caused by me. I used compressed air to blow in the heat sink.
I also used a screen cleaner solution to wipe the laptop down. Some of it *may have gotten in the laptop but I'm not sure.

I'm looking for solutions online in the meantime but tom's has always had a helpful community so I thought I'd ask you guys.

Appreciate the help!

Did your friend alter your bios or boot priority settings?

Take out any USB devices or CDs from the tray and try again, sometimes it's just that simple. Let me know if that doesn't work.

EDIT: If you put your computer to sleep as well, it may have failed to come out of sleep mode properly, in which case you need to try to boot in safe mode. I believe the f8 key will bring up the advanced windows startup menu so you can select safe mode. Just try to start it up, and then shut it down cleanly and try a regular boot.

did not have any devices plugged in. There was a disc in the optical drive which I took out before I even posted here.

Your second solution seems to be a possibility; however either I could not find the advanced boot options or it just isn't there

I feel like windows is gone/missing/corrupted but that's just my guess
