so i live in the uk and am looking for a laptop to use at university and for gaming. the 2 main competitors i have found on currys are the HP envy x360 15.6" 2in 1, and the HP envy touchsmart 15-j122ea laptops which are the same price and have very similar specs. the main differences that i can see and are relevant to me are that the x360 has a better resolution at 1920x1080 vs 1366x768 and double the ram of the other with 8gb vs 4gb, while the 15-j122ea has a higher processor speed (2.5 compared to 1.7 ghz).
i play games like runescape and age of mythology so not very graphically demanding games and i doubt this will change but i would like to know if both of these specs are enough to play both of these games on at max graphics- or essentially which of these 2 setups is better for gaming at this level? (ie. better resolution and ram or higher processor speeds)

the pc im using now has 3ghz of processing speed and on resolution of 1280x1024 and this is enough to play both games on max settings with high enough detail so nothing looks blurry so im thinking that the higher processor is better but im still usnure.
any help would be appreciated.

I'd rather have a 1080p monitor but to run games at that level you need a badass GPU. Which GPU is better?

You might want to try another forum that specializes in laptops. But don't use pcspecialist....haha.

EDIT. The TouchSmart has dedicated graphics...740M whereas the x360 does not. This makes me believe the TouchSmart will game better.

If you want HP then I'd suggest this one which has i5, 8GB RAM, and dedicated GPU.

the 15-j122ea has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M (2 GB DDR3) graphics card but the other one doesn't say (that i can find.) i can post the links to the websites so it doesn'st get messy

x360: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-envy-x360-15-6-2-in-1-silver-10022966-pdt.html

15-j122ea: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-envy-touchsmart-15-j122ea-15-6-touchscreen-laptop-silver-22081537-pdt.html

but as i said before since both the games i mentioned aren't really high graphics i didn't think i needed such high graphics hardware- on my computer now with 3ghz processor and 1280x1024 res they're both fine on max graphics but i dont know what gpu this computer has.

Glad to help. I replied to this thread cuz I owned a hp envy a couple years ago. (hence my forum name) It gamed well for the price. Eventually I sold it to buy my current desktop as it never left my room.

1080p, decent i5, and 8GB RAM will keep this computer usable for many years and all uses.
