Hi,

I unfortunately dropped my laptop and cracked my display, I had it replaced(tried two different screens) but the backlight remained completely dimmed and so there was almost no display, according to my technician this is due to a damaged LED control chip on my motherboard. Repairing the motherboard would be very expensive and take a long time.

I had another idea and wanted to see if it is any way feasible. I want to connect the backlight directly to the power supply so that the backlight will just remain on the whole time. The technician said this is impossible and if it were it would burn the screen out very quickly.

I do however feel that this limitation can be overcome(maybe have an on/off switch or a variable resistor that I can tweak), maybe I'm just overambitious though?

So I'm asking for advice on how I can rescue my laptop without spending a fortune.

Thank you for your help.

William
