Hello folks ,

So i decided to get a new headset, right now i own philips shp1900 , costed like 30$ or so.Confortable but i want to have richer sound quality.I will be mainly using them for gaming,i have seperate mic on the table. How much of a difference are 40mm vs 50mm drivers in headset? ( i'm guessing the 50mm is way better, correct me if i'm wrong.)My price range is around 80$.I have few options in my mind. 1 - Plantronics GameCom 788 ,2. Razer Kraken ( non pro ) 3. Steelseries siberia v2 4. Turrtle beach z22 , 5.Corsair Raptor HS40 7.1 USB Gaming Headset 6. Sennheiser hd 205. Help me decide which to choose, or maybe you can add something else beside these ones.I"m not the super good at choosing them so =).

Best wishes,
dirolas

Of your selections, I have heard nothing but good things about the Plantronics headset. You can enable 5.1 or 7.1 virtual surround if you feel it is necessary. I, personally, don't find virtual surround all that helpful in games, but other people seem to have different experiences.

As suggested above, you could also consider Logitech headsets. The G430 is a pretty good choice. It sounds pretty good for the price and still offers 7.1 virtual surround should you choose to use it.

To answer your question about driver size, you won't notice much of a difference. Generally speaking (very generally), you will hear more low end out of larger drivers. The larger the driver, the more air it can push. Bass needs more cone movement than mids and...

First of all.....I dont know what other people say.. But according to me,,, Surround sound is essential..
There is not much of a difference between 40 and 50 mm driver
From your choice...Steelseries is a better choice.. Dont ever think of buying corsair raptor...

you should consider logitech headsets in your choice..... they have some amazing 7.1 quality headsets
SUCH as --- Logitech g430(Under 80$) and g35(It costs more than 80$ but its worth buying)

Genius hs700v cavimanus is an excellent choice for tight budget.... it's really a powerfull headset and bass is also outstanding.

To answer your question about driver size, you won't notice much of a difference. Generally speaking (very generally), you will hear more low end out of larger drivers. The larger the driver, the more air it can push. Bass needs more cone movement than mids and highs, so larger cones can help with this. On the headphone/headset level, this doesn't apply as much. I would not make this something that would prevent you from buying a headset or pair of headphones.

Just so you are aware, a pair of headphones (not a headset) will almost always sound better than a headset in its price range. If you don't need a microphone, then I would highly suggest looking into a pair of headphones instead. If you need a mic and don't want to deal with the mod-mic later on down the road, then getting a headset is definitely the way to go, especially if you aren't crazy picky about your sound.
