Hi!

I'm looking for a laptop. I'll be studying/working mainly on archviz and character animation.
This is the first time I'm buying a laptop so I'm lost on what a good requirements should have.
My budget is between 1,000 - 1,500.

Thanks

The good requirements are definitely to have a strong processor and a high-quality laptop graphics card that is external from the processor. Many laptops have graphics called "Intel ..." And as soon as you see Intel you know they are not good graphics for rendering. Look for a laptop with a high-frequency processor and a good GPU like the Geforce GTX 860m. 8GB or more RAM is also great to have.

Thank you! I've seen some laptops with GeForce GTX860m. I was thinking on a Intel Core i7, I believe I have to avoid the 'U' versions.
What about storage, I was thinking on a combination of HHD + SSD. Do you think that is good?

Do you recommend a brand? ASUS, Dell, MSI...

Dell is an overall solid brand, and they don't make crap, but their prices aren't the best. From what I hear, MSI laptops are built-to-last, and Asus has great laptops for great prices.

The GTX 860m is definitely one of the best laptop graphics cards out there, it is a must-have for your needs. An i7 processor, as you said not the U, will be beneficial for rendering speeds also, because both the processor and GPU and used a lot in rendering.
