Unfortunately, my previous laptop broke recently, and I am in need for a new one. I don't have a high budget, it is in the range of $500 to $600. I need it to be able to run programs like Adobe Photoshop, Cinema 4D, Adobe Dreamweaver etc. I need the best "bang for the buck". Thanks for the help.

You can find core i5 laptops on sale in that price range. If you find one with descrete graphics it will help with rednering images/video but if not the integrated chip in the new i5s will do it just fine.

I would stick with Lenovo or ASUS as they have a good track record on quality.
HP is hit or miss, could be a great deal or 6 mo latter is a complete lemon.
Dell/Toshiba have gone downhill in the last few years
Acer/Gateway/Compaq = cheap garbage, expect it to break in 1.5 to 2 years.
